The steel wire rope is a machine element that consists of a series of moving parts (wires) that are designed and manufactured in such a way that they are in constant interaction with one another. The art of stranding consists in arranging and dimensioning the wires in such a way that there is as little punctual contact with the wires as possible.
The main element is the steel wire. A strand is made from a defined bundle of steel wires. Several strands are twisted in a helix shape around the core (fiber or steel core) to form the finished product.
For most applications, single-layer round strand ropes with mostly 6 or 8 strands are used.
Rotation-free rope constructions are required for greater lifting heights. These are multi-layered and often consist of 34 – 36 strands, which are twisted in opposite directions in the different layers.

Yes. Even if individual wire breaks have hardly any effect on the load, an inspection by an expert is required at least once a year.
Real expertise is required when inspecting ropes. Often running ropes appear to be ok, but not only the external impression is decisive. Some types of ropes “die from inside” due to their construction.
Basically possible if the expert is available and the entrepreneur has made the appointment as expert.
The inspection must be recorded in writing. The test report must be presented to the authorities on request.
